Cyber Security Administrator

Location: Dahlgren, VA (COMPLETELY On-Site)

Job Type: 6-month Contract-to-Hire

Hourly rate: $48 – $52 per hr.

Conversion Salary: $100,000 – $110,000

Clearance: All applicants must have current DoD TS/SCI clearance eligibility day one and prior to entry on duty.

This position will support aspects of network vulnerability scanning and assessments within the Joint Warfare Analysis Center (JWAC) IT environment. JWAC provides combatant commands, the Joint Staff, and other customers with effects-based analysis and precision targeting options for selected networks and nodes, in order to carry out the national security and military strategies of the United States during peace, crisis, and war.

Work Location: Completely on-site in Dahlgren, VA.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This position will include, but is not limited to, the following tasks:

  • Install, configure, monitor, and maintain the technologies that assess vulnerability scanning.
  • Ensure technologies are configured correctly to meet all applicable DoD directives/mandates to include relevant STIGs and controls.
  • Provide Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) support:
    • Add/Remove agents.
    • Evaluate health of ACAS, Nessus Scanners, Nessus Manager, and Nessus Network Monitors.
    • Use ACAS best practices for compliance.
    • Update plugins.
    • Run weekly reports.
    • Ensure active scans, agent scans, and discovery scans are successful.
    • Update audit files.
    • Perform rescans as needed.
  • Assist with investigating and responding to incidents/failures/anomalies that arise.
  • Maintain computer systems in a fully operational state through monitoring, alerting, troubleshooting, and performing repair and restoration activities to a compliant operational state.
  • Perform periodic reporting of system status to include uptime, incidents, problems, open issues, etc.
  • Perform backup HBSS and LogRhythm support.
  • Provide input for, and maintain, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and provide documentation of service workflows, system configurations, and routine tasks.
  • Provide weekly activity reports of work completed, issues and concerns, and upcoming work plans.

Basic Required Qualifications and Skills:  Note: Candidates without these required elements will not be considered.

  • At start date must possess an Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification in ACTIVE status:
    • Security+ CE
    • CCNA Security
    • CySA+ (formerly CSA+)
    • GICSP
    • GSEC
    • CND
    • SSCP
  • Minimum of four years’ experience with cyber security vulnerability management and related experience.
  • Minimum three years’ experience with the following:
    • ACAS suite (Security Center, Nessus scanner, Nessus manager, Nessus monitor, etc.)
    • Ansible (less than one year experience considered on a case-by-case basis).
    • Windows Server Administration.
  • Superb attention to detail, critical thinking, and analysis skills, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Internal drive to figure out complex challenges and answers without giving up.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to stay focused.
  • Be able to obtain network, server, and workstation administration rights on JWAC networks.
  • Pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • All applicants must have current DoD TS/SCI clearance eligibility day one and prior to entry on duty. 

Desired Qualifications and Skills:  It is desirable that the candidate have the following qualifications:

  • Experience with LogRhythm, HBSS, Forescout.
  • Microsoft Windows Server Certifications.
  • Former DoD experience as military, government, or contractor.
