Course Director/Project Manager
The Course Director/Project Manager will lead the development, coordination, and execution of academic courses and related program support, ensuring successful delivery of 12–14 annual courses in emerging security disciplines. This position requires experience in course management, academic programming, and NATO-related accreditation processes. This position offers a dynamic opportunity to support high-impact, international academic initiatives in critical security domains with responsibilities including program administration, stakeholder coordination, course documentation, and quality assurance.
Long-term opportunity:
Initial period of performance (PoP) from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026, with four (4) additional 12-month option periods, potentially extending through March 31, 2030
Location: Onsite in Oberammergau, Germany (Must reside within a commutable distance for the duration of the contract)
Work Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 07:30–16:30 (Excluding holidays)
Travel: Travel for program events is required
Language: Fluency in English and at least one European language is required
Work Authorization: Current work authorization for the European Union is required
MIN. Technical Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience with project support, coordination, and managing the development and delivery of academic courses
- At least 3 years of experience working with the NATO ACT course accreditation process
- Knowledge of the military education and training working environment
- Experience maintaining and promoting working relationships with research and educational organizations across NATO and other international and national institutions
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Requirements:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience working in a NATO academic planning and programming environment
- Minimum of 5 years of government-related experience
- Working knowledge of the NSO/NPS partnership
The Course Director–Project Manager will perform the following tasks:
- Collaborate with relevant academic and international partners to determine and achieve course accreditation requirements in key disciplines:
- Cyber and Network Security
- International Maritime Security
- Energy Security
- Defense Analysis
- Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence
- Liaise with leadership, instructors, and stakeholders to address program goals and logistics.
- Represent the program at conferences, working groups, and international events.
- Oversee the onsite delivery of 12–14 courses annually, managing content updates, logistics, and operational execution.
- Coordinate resources such as classrooms, IT systems, and student platforms.
- Address student issues effectively during in-residence courses.
- Manage and de-conflict instructor scheduling, course plans, and logistics.
- Prepare and distribute pre-course materials, including read-ahead packages, technical requirements, and assessments.
- Evaluate course delivery and gather student feedback to identify areas for program improvement.
- Develop and administer course evaluation forms and post-course reports.
- Assess instructor performance to ensure alignment with quality standards.
- Archive project materials, including course statistics, student data, and feedback reports.
- Provide detailed monthly status reports outlining deliverables, milestones, and progress.
- Prepare documentation required for course accreditation processes.
- Deliverables include:
- NATO course accreditation documentation
- Course scheduling plans and evaluation reports
- Comprehensive program statistics, student feedback summaries, and improvement recommendations
- Monthly progress reports and quality assurance evaluations
