Job Summary

The Training Developer is responsible for creating engaging and effective learning experiences that help organizations achieve their training and development goals, with a focus on distance learning and technology-enabled instruction. Working closely with subject matter experts, the Training Developer analyzes learning needs, designs instructional content and activities, and develops training materials in a variety of online and digital formats. They apply proven instructional design principles and methods to ensure optimal learning outcomes for both in-person and remote learners. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough needs assessments to identify learning gaps, target audiences, and desired performance outcomes for both in-person and distance learning programs 
  • Design and develop instructional content, including eLearning modules, virtual classroom sessions, video-based lessons, interactive simulations, and other digital training materials 
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to accurately capture and translate technical information into accessible, learner-centric content for online and distance delivery 
  • Determine the most appropriate instructional strategies, learning technologies, and delivery methods to meet learning objectives for both in-person and remote modalities 
  • Create storyboards, prototypes, and sample content to solicit feedback and iterate on designs for distance learning programs 
  • Ensure training aligns with adult learning principles, organizational goals, and regulatory/compliance requirements for both in-person and distance learning 
  • Develop assessment instruments to evaluate the effectiveness of distance learning programs and make data-driven improvements 
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging trends, tools, and best practices in online/distance instructional design and delivery 
  • Provide guidance and support to subject matter experts and facilitators on effective facilitation of distance learning sessions
